Yarn Along

Reading: A Pocket Full of Rye, by Agatha Christie. This is one that I've never read before or seen a TV adaptation of, so the mystery is all new to me and I'm really liking it. British mysteries are my ultimate comfort entertainment, whether in book or movie form. :)

Knitting: Now that I finished my two bigger projects (sweater and shawl), I've been working on my sock yarn scrap blanket again. It's been almost two years since I started it, and I want to reach 100 squares before next month. Then I'll get some good pictures of my progress so far.

{Yarn Along is a weekly link up hosted by Ginny where you can share what you've been knitting and reading.}

  1. Love the way your scrap blanket is turning out - it's so fun to see all of the colors and patterns!

    And I should read more Agatha Christie.

    1. Thanks! I like being able to remember where all of the yarns came from. It's my personal opinion that everyone should read more Agatha Christie. :)

  2. I love the idea of using up scraps.

    I read Poirot mysteries but not Miss Marple. Have you read Dorothy Sayers Lord Peter Wimsey mysteries? Those are my absolute favorites.

    1. Me too, I hate wasting yarn. I read Poirot too, but prefer Miss Marple. Possibly because she's a knitter. :) No, I haven't read any of those yet, though I intend to!

  3. I've yet to read an Agatha Christie mystery, and this one has always intrigued me. I'm curious to hear your thoughts on it. Also your blanket looks super cool so far!

    1. It was very good, not one of my absolute favorites but very enjoyable! I would recommend starting with "And Then There Were None," which is probably my favorite of her novels that I've read so far. :) Thank you!

  4. I haven't read Agatha Christie for years. Sounds like a perfect winter read.
    I love all those scrap blankets, and really need to make one myself!

    1. I work on my scrap blanket in bursts...I go months without touching it but then finish 10 or so squares within a week. :) They can be very addicting!

  5. Your scrap blanket is delicious!! I want to cozy up with it. I haven't read any of Agatha Christie's books but the cover on that one makes me want to try it. (What is it about mugs of coffee or tea that make things even more enticing?) :-)

    1. Thanks! I'm hoping that one day it will be big enough to cozy up under, ha. I love the covers of these reissues of her novels, they're so pretty!

  6. I love agatha christie. My favorite mystery writer.. if you ever watch the tv adaptation I only recommend the ones with Joan Hickson, she actually met Agatha and thought she was perfect for the role.

    1. I haven't seen any of the Joan Hickson adaptations, though I have started the newer Marple series. I really enjoy it, though I've taken a break now to read some of the books first. :)
