Yarn Along

Reading: The Huntress of Thornbeck Forest, by Melanie Dickerson. I'm less than 100 pages in, so I can't comment too much on this one yet. So far it's feeling similar to her other books, in terms of the simple writing style and the slower-moving plot. Since I've been watching the BBC Robin Hood over the past couple of months, parts of it are definitely reminding me of Marian's secret from that series.

Knitting: I need to cast on something new soon, because I feel like all I've been knitting for the past couple of weeks are socks! (And a few squares on my scrap blanket.) Not that that's a problem, but it's nice to have something else on the needles, too. This is the first of my latest pair, which I'm calling my mint chocolate chip socks because these colors make me crave ice cream. :)

{Yarn Along is a weekly link up hosted by Ginny where you can share what you've been knitting and reading.}

  1. Hope you enjoy "Huntress." I know a lot of readers who really enjoy Melanie's books, so they've been curious to read this "adult" novel by her. That cover is gorgeous.

    Yay for a new knitting project. Hope you have fun with it! And mint ice cream!? Never a bad thing. :)

  4. Oooh I'm definitely gonna check The Huntress of Thornbeck Forest out! I've read some of Melanie's books before, and while I've never been too impressed with her writing, the covers of her books are absolutely drop-dead-gorgeous! And I can't resist pretty covers.

    1. I feel exactly the same way. This is the fourth of her books that I've read, and I'm never impressed with the writing either...it feels too simple and stilted. But I'm always sucked back in by the pretty covers, hoping each book is better than the last. :) This is probably my favorite of her covers!
