Reading: Anne of Green Gables, by L.M. Montgomery. I read this book once before, about seven or eight years ago. I remember enjoying it, but for whatever reason I never continued with the series. So now in 2015, I'm finally going to read them all. :) This one is so good...Anne cracks me up. (Edit: I finished it and absolutely loved it!)
Knitting: Socks. This is my third attempt with this particular yarn, and I'm happy with it. First I tried vanilla socks, and the yarn pooled in a really hideous way. Then I tried Jaywalker, which made the yarn stripe into pretty chevrons, but the fit wasn't working. It fit loosely on my leg but I could hardly get it over my ankle. So attempt number three: the stitch pattern from Show-off Stranded Socks, but a plain heel and gusset like I usually do. (I'm in the mood for easy knitting right now and really didn't feel like deciphering the gusset instructions.) It's amazing what a difference the stitch pattern makes...instead of ugly thick pooling, it's a nice thin spiral that looks like stripes. :) I'm at the gusset on the first sock.

I love Anne of Green Gables. I want to reread them (for the third time I think) this year. I am really enjoying Green Gables Fables although it took me a while to get into them. If you have watched these, you need to read the media archives on the website for a fuller story. I need to go through the other media more because what I have read has deepened the story. I absolutely hate the way the movies wreck the stories (the first one is only okay, the second combines stories and literally plagiarizes Little Women, the novel, and the third is sacrilege), so i love the way the web series follows the books not the movies.
ReplyDeleteI have not tried socks. I am not much into thick socks so have not been inspired. Maybe I will try baby socks.
I've been watching Green Gables Fables and really enjoying it, too. (Though I'm thinking that a certain sad event is about to happen and I'm not sure I'm ready for that!) So far I've only watched the videos instead of following the other media, too. I love the first two Anne movies but didn't like the third one at all.
DeleteSocks are a bit addicting to knit, in my experience! :)
I really loved the Anne of Green Gables movies when I was younger but for some reason I never read the books. Thanks for the reminder! I'll have to read those.
ReplyDeleteI read the first book and discovered the films later. I love the first two films, but for whatever reason I never read the rest of the books! I'm sure they'll all be wonderful. :) I hope you get to read them soon!
DeleteAnne of Green Gables <3 I too am working on reading the entire series this year. I'm almost finished with Anne of Avonlea, and I'm absolutely loving it. Can't wait to see what you think of all the sequels.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! I'm so excited to read the whole series. :)
DeleteThat cover! Love it.
ReplyDeleteI know, isn't it beautiful? I have to admit that these new covers were a big incentive for me to finally read the rest of the series. :)
