- This particular video in the Autobiography of Jane Eyre web-series. In case you don't know (which you should, because I've mentioned this several times before :), this is a series similar to the Lizzie Bennet Diaries or Emma Approved, except it's obviously based on Jane Eyre. I think they're doing an amazing job so far. Things just recently started getting romancey for Jane and Rochester, but out of all of those videos, this one is by far my favorite. They are just so adorable and dorky together.
But the recent videos have also made me feel a sense of dread, because I can't help but keep thinking about what's getting ready to happen. Poor Jane!
- And related to the above point, I am smitten with the song that's playing in the video. It's The Manic, by Amarante. I've had it stuck in my head a lot lately, and I love how the lyrics foreshadow things to come in Jane and Rochester's relationship. You can listen to it or buy it for $1 here.
- This scarf is one of my favorite knitting patterns ever. Seriously, how genius is that idea? A scarf full of your favorite things! One of my goals in 2014 is to learn stranded colorwork/fair isle knitting. It looks so intimidating to me, but everyone keeps saying it's not that difficult. And I'm a little obsessed with the way it looks. I even ordered some yarn for my first colorwork project during KnitPicks' big sale over the weekend. Anyway, I want to make this scarf so badly. I'm going to start collecting motifs so I'll have them whenever I'm skilled enough to attempt this. I definitely want to sneak some TARDISes and other DW references in there. :)
I'm just wondering whether I would do it in worsted weight or something lighter. Obviously worsted would be so much quicker and I have lots of yarn scraps I could use. But I don't know if I would get a lot of use out of such a huge, bulky scarf! Fingering weight would be the perfect weight for me, I think, but I'd probably be knitting on it for years if I took that route. :)
- And this is probably my favorite specific scarf from that pattern. It's so gorgeous! The colors are perfect and I love all of the little creatures and woodland imagery: foxes and owls and hedgehogs and winter trees and sheep and mushrooms. I'm very jealous of that scarf.
So yeah...I thought this post would be a bit more diverse. Apparently I'm all about Jane Eyre and colorwork scarves at the moment. :)
I wish I knitted, 'cause those scarfs look so awesome! I would totally want something DW in mine as well. :)
ReplyDeleteThe Autobiography of Jane Eyre. SO good. I'm loving it as well right now. Which is a strange feeling for me, because I was never a big fan of the books or the story in general (mainly b/c I could never bring myself to like Rochester and thus never understood Jane's adoration of him. But I love this modern interpretation and I actually ship the two of them!).
ReplyDeleteI love the autobiography of Jane Eye............and that scarf.
ReplyDeleteI smiled so hard for that video. They were sooooooooo adorable. But I feel so bad because they are so happy.
ReplyDeleteHaven't watch the Jane Eyre webisodes yet, maybe one of these days I will. Thanks for the reminder. :)
ReplyDeleteI need to get caught up on Jane Eyre. Looks like things are starting to get really exciting! :D
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that scarf! Okay, time to improve my knitting skills...which are really pathetic. ;)
Are the Jane Eyre episodes squeaky clean? I guess I should ask after the series is done to be safe. The Lizzie Bennet Diaries got pretty dirty, but I finished them. Emma Approved I stopped because they had something really evil in the beginning of one episode, so I am afraid of these. I wish they would keep some morals-why can't they be like Hallmark?
ReplyDeleteI can't really speak for the earlier episodes, because it's been a while since I watched those. In recent episodes there have occasionally been a few profanities that have been bleeped out. I don't know if I would call it squeaky clean...
