Some more yarn.

All of the comments you guys left on the Doctor Who post made my day! It's nice to know that there are so many fans out there. It's also nice to know that apparently there is life after the David Tennant episodes are over. :)

Anyway...one of my resolutions this year is to spin enough yarn for at least a small project...a pair of fingerless gloves, a scarf, a cowl, or something like that. Well, I'm a third of the way there! :)

I bought three packs of this roving last year. I'm still a bit amazed at the whole spinning process, at how something can go from this pile of fluff...

And then condense down into three balls of yarn (singles)...

And then be plied into this yarn. I wanted to fit as many yards as possible of these singles without stopping, so I just kept going even though my spindle was getting very heavy and awkward by the end. I thought the spindle was full before...good grief. This was nearly twice as many yards. {Sorry for the bad late night photo. Never mind that my idea of late night is 10:00 p.m. Ahem. :) }

It ended up being about 94 yards. I'm happy with that because it means after I'm finished with all of this roving I should have at least 282 yds, which is plenty for a smallish project!

It's definitely still inconsistent, so that's something I really need to work on. But I think I'm finally getting the hang of knowing how much twist is necessary, in the initial spinning and in plying.

Until next time,
