He was born to one of the sheep on our farm, but his mom wouldn't feed him. So after a few days of catching her and letting him drink, Dad bought him to the house. He put Andy in the brooder house (the currently chicken-free place where we keep baby chicks until they're 3 weeks old), and we've had to bottle feed him three or four times a day.
{In case you're wondering about his name, it was my mom's idea. Male orphan Annie = Andy (even though he technically isn't an orphan). But it fits in nicely, because even though he's the only named sheep, we have goats named Bee, Thelma Lou, and Miss Crump. We also have a Lucy and Ethel. I won't tell you who is responsible for such bizarre classic TV character-themed animal names. Hm.}
It was hard to get pictures of the little rascal. He kept running and sniffing and moving around. I snapped a lot of pictures, and these are the only clear ones. :)
Here he is eating my camera wrist strap:
He's started hopping. A long time ago, my brother had this Wile E. Coyote video game, and there was a herd of sheep in the game. They would hop straight up in the air, with their legs straight out, or bounce across the field. When Dad bought our sheep, I was surprised to see that sheep actually do that in real life. :) It's hilarious.
Until next time,

Andy is sooo cute! I'm so glad you posted the photos. Oh, and you DO have a letter coming soon. I just need to finish it up and send it off!
ReplyDeleteAndy is so precious!! What a doll :)
ReplyDeleteEeeeep! He's so cute. Any idea why his mom won't feed him? Regardless, I'm glad he has you guys to help out. Enjoy your sheep and goats.
ReplyDeleteNo, we're not sure why. It's just one of those things that happens sometimes. Dad says that Andy's mom is one of the younger sheep, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.
DeleteI am so glad you posted pics of Andy! Your mom was telling me how active he is. The children think he is "really cute". Take care!
