On the way home, me and Mom stopped by the thrift store, still on a hunt for the perfect train case. We didn't find it (although I did get an old pink-even though I don't like pink-sewing box), but we did find something else...the much sought-after (by me, anyway) "The Sound of Music" record! We've been looking for it for quite a while, and almost found it a few weeks ago at the antique mall, but someone had put the wrong record in the case. So Mom was looking through the records yesterday and handed me a Glenn Miller one. Then she found not one, but two "The Sound of Music" records! I got the one that still had some of the plastic on the outside, and the record slip and booklet on the inside. I was so happy. I almost hate to play it because it's in such perfect condition...And maybe the best part (aside from finding it) was the price- 49 cents.
Oops...I cut Captain von Trapp out of the picture, LOL.
Don't you just love the crackling sound that records make?
So what about the zipper in my dress? After I finally got offline and started working on it, it wasn't as horrific as I thought. Well, after I ripped out hundreds of stitches and remembered that I can sew a lot closer to the zipper with a zipper foot (I know...duh), it wasn't as horrific as I thought. It's still not perfect, but okay. The hemming on the lining is terrible (I hate lining fabric! It frays like crazy and slides around and leaves shimmery stuff on the other fabric), but other than that, the dress is my favorite I've made. Hopefully I'll have pictures soon.
Until next time,
Kristin (missvintagegirl)
