So many sewing plans...

I really want to sew something, but I've got so many things I want to try that I feel overwhelmed, LOL. I've got a whole stack of patterns in my room that I've got at 99 cent sales, and here I am getting ready to buy more this week. Hobby Lobby has Simplicity patterns on sale, and I want to get two or three of them. And hopefully me and Mom will make it to Joann's early this week...they have Butterick for 99 cents and "Coupon Commotion" this week! But then again, most of the time when I'm shopping it's coupon commotion. Anyway, I have four or five really cute retro style (40's and 50's) Butterick patterns that I want to get. Besides all of that, I should be making things to sell at the market, which I haven't been doing at all.

I've realized that most of my patterns are dresses. How often do I wear dresses? One day a week to church, and on special occasions. I need more patterns for normal, everyday clothing. All of the shirt patterns I see are big and bulky, which look good on thin people, but it's the last thing I need. I did find one that might look all right if I take it in a lot on the sides. Most of the shirts I wear are slightly stretchy, which makes me really want to try to work with some knit fabrics. But the thought of that scares me to death! I like working with something sturdy and predictable...like cotton (my favorite fabric). Knits are stretchy and difficult to hem and just scary. Still, they're supposed to be more forgiving of mistakes. I've got several yards of knit fabric in my room that I bought for a dress, but I've been too nervous to do anything besides wash and dry it so it would be preshrunk.

Until next time,
Kristin (missvintagegirl)
