"His Girl Friday" and wasted time...

Last night I watched "His Girl Friday," with Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell. It was amazing. I mean, the plot was pretty good, and the characters were great. But I was in awe of the dialogue. If you've never seen an old movie with high-speed dialogue, this is what you need to see. I don't see how they could possibly keep it up without occasionally gasping for breath. And it wasn't just mindless babbling...it was funny. Very quick and witty. Sometimes it took me a minute to realize what had been said. There was a lot of smart dialogue, but then there would be moments of just funny silliness, like when Cary Grant picks up a shorter man to allow him to see through a window, or when he imitates how Rosalind's character trapped him into proposing with her "googly eyes." =) The whole movie was like perfectly organized chaos. Skip about 5 or 6 minutes into this video and see the scene that made my head spin.

I meant to accomplish a lot today, but I'm afraid that I've wasted away my whole afternoon. And what have I been doing? Looking at tourist websites for Britain, as if I'm planning a tour of Europe or something. In my daydreams, maybe. I've just been thinking of how lovely it would be to see the places where some of my favorite books were written, where my favorite authors lived, or where my favorite movies were filmed. I should be thinking about reality, like the fact that I'm going to the community college tomorrow to meet with an advisor and sign up for classes. What a way to crash from daydreams to reality...from European travels to college classes.

Until next time,
Kristin (missvintagegirl)
